Paradise Wildlife Park is King of the Jungle after Switching to JJ Foodservice
Updated: 23 February, 2024
A family-run charitable zoo in Broxbourne gives 400,000 visitors a year better value meals in eco-friendly packaging after switching to JJ Foodservice
With more than 12,000 members and 4000 daily visitors, Paradise Wildlife Park has many mouths to feed!
It’s no surprise they have a dedicated team of caterers to work across eight on-site restaurants. Serving everything from hot dogs and BBQs to salads and vegan dishes.
Keen to offer families value, the business was struggling to keep prices low with current suppliers. Instead, they switched to JJ Foodservice to help improve value for money while keeping quality and eco-credentials high.
Food accounts for 30% of total turnover at the Park and is primary to our visitors’ enjoyment. Commercial Director, Craig Whitnall says, “Our product range and food quality have improved since switching to JJ Foodservice.
It’s helped us to create a menu for families at a price that they can afford. We couldn’t have done that without JJ.”
Rest and Re-Fuel
JJ supplies 90% of the products on the tempting menu, from buns and burgers to soft drinks and fries.
Walking around the park all day can be tiring work, which is why there are many pit stops for hungry little mouths.
JJ supplies all-day snacks including coffee and quality cakes, suitable for all ages, delivered by a friendly team.
“Our Head Chef places orders online for next day delivery. The drivers are lovely – they arrive at 6am and put our frozen goods away,” said Craig.
“If there are products that they can’t get hold of, they let us know in advance.”
Conservation and Sustainability
The charitable zoo is home to more than 800 animals including the UK’s largest anaconda on show to the public.
Keen to protect endangered species, the zoo is also involved in many International breeding programmes. One of which is for its colony of endangered African penguins.
“Sustainability is very important to us,” said Craig. “It’s not just about the animals, it carries right through to our packaging, too.”
“By working with JJ’s, we’ve been able to move towards biodegradable packaging for all our food,” he added.
“We have improved as a business since working with JJ and look forward to having a long relationship with them.”
